A super friendly place for families, this fishery-turned-luxury holiday resort offers gorgeous accommodation in a beautiful setting and with plenty of onsite activities to keep you entertained. Located on the east coast of Scotland, it’s a good base for exploring some of the most breathtaking coastlines in the country.

There are 14 self-catering lodges sleeping between 2-10 guests. The six Waterside lodges are family-sized and sleep up to 6 guests, enjoying glorious views across the fishing ponds.

Situated within the woods are the four Woodland lodges. Comfortably sleeping up to four, these are the perfect retreat for a couple or a small family. The Leannan Boathouse is a romantic waterside hideaway that offers the ultimate retreat for couples while Kingennie Court North and South lodges sleep up to 10 guests and lend themselves perfectly to big gatherings of friends and family.

Eat

Each lodge has a well-equipped modern kitchen but if you’d like to take a night off cooking there is delicious food available at the onsite restaurant and bar – both offer locally sourced and home grown produce.

There are other fantastic options nearby, or you take a taxi into Dundee for a dinner in town.

Activities

The resort is full of adventure for families of all ages and sizes, with a variety of on-site activities, including 5 fishing ponds, a 9 hole golf course, an 18 hole putting green, a driving range, a maze and an abundance of countryside walks.

Accessibility

There are disabled friendly ramps throughout the resort, including for the onsite bar and restaurant. Unfortunately there are no fully accessible lodges – however some do have accessibility features. Glen Clova has ramped access leading up to the entrance of the lodge and a downstairs single bedroom with en suite facilities including a disabled access shower.

Where is it and how do you get there?

By Road

Take the A90 south from Aberdeen (80 mins) or if traveling from Edinburgh (90 mins) take the M90 north and at Perth take the A90 to Dundee.

By Air

‘Scot Airways’ operate three daily direct services flying from London City Airport to Dundee Riverside Airport. Alternatively fly into Edinburgh Airport, which is approximately a one-hour car journey from Kingennie.

By Rail

Dundee has regular daily express services between Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Trains are also available from Glasgow via Perth.

The Forbes Family

Our history goes back to 1966, when farmer Alistair Graham Forbes brought his wife and son, Cindy and Micheal to Omachie Farmhouse, Kingennie. When Mike was six he caught his first fish in the Buddon Burn, and his passion for fishing was born. Mike converted part of the farm into a fishery and fishing lodges in 1995. The success of this venture encouraged him and his wife Gail to continue to invest and create the resort that you see today. The Forbes family are very passionate about Kingennie and hope to share this passion with all those who visit.

Owner recommendations

The V&A Museum of Design opened in Dundee in September 2018, and is a wonderful showcase of Scotland's design heritage and more.
Visit Charleton Fruit Farm in Montrose for some lunch, then get to work picking some berries for dessert.
Broughty Ferry is home to a lovely beach and is only a five minute drive from the resort.
