Cornwall and family holidays go hand in hand - for a family break any time of the year you will never be stuck for something to do; take a boat trip around the coast, sign up for windsurfing or sailing lessons, with 300 beaches at your disposal you are never far away from a bucket and spade day to explore, build a sandcastle, sun bathe with a book? The National Seal Sanctuary and Monkey Sanctuary, near Looe are fun days out - Trethorne Adventure Park and Crealy's are popular theme parks for the kids. The Eden Project is a top-eco child friendly tourist attraction with rainforests, gardens and family events throughout the year. There are stunning National Trust properties and gardens to explore dotted around Cornwall, as well as the Lost Gardens of Heligan with facilities and events for children. We love the Camel trail for a cycling adventure with the kids - a traffic free cycle path that runs alongside Camel Estuary into Padstow. For a day out with children who have boundless energy try a hike up towards Rough Tor - one of the most famous landmarks on Bodmin Moor, near Camelford.

St Michael's Mount, is the most famous of Cornwall's landmarks, just off the South Cornish coast by Marazion, near Penzance, Managed by the National Trust, it has a fascinating history steeped in both legend and folklore. Its stunning panoramic views across Mounts Bay to Lands End and The Lizard attracts thousands of visitors to discover for themselves this ancient landmark and marvel at its beauty.

The weather can sometimes be hit or miss when you holiday in the UK, but there is so much to do in Cornwall that a rainy day won’t spoil your fun. Take the kids to the Eden Project, the world’s largest indoor rainforest. With its space-age looking biodomes it certainly delivers on the wow factor. In the school holidays there are free themed shows and activities, with an educational slant – but always fun and interactive. The on site tractor ride to ferry you around the park will be a big hit with small children. Although tickets are a bit pricey you can get discounts when ordering them in advance and Tesco offer them through clubcard boost.
